Overhaul on the world’s largest fast ferry

On the route between Rønne and Ystad sails the Express 5, which was introduced back in April 2023. The ferry can accommodate over 1,600 passengers and 451 cars. This makes it the largest catamaran ferry in the world. And once a year, the ferry needs to undergo servicing, a task handled by two of our skilled service technicians. They made the trip to Ørskov Shipyard in Frederikshavn, where the ferry was docked. As part of the extensive service, the ferry’s two thrusters needed overhauling – both the starboard and port thrusters. During the overhaul, they performed tasks such as oil changes and control measurements. Our technicians’ significant expertise in thrusters ensured that the overhaul and service proceeded smoothly, and the ferry is now back in operation between Sweden and Bornholm.
