At the end of January, a group of our service technicians took a trip to Svendborg shipyard. At Petersen & Sørensen Motorværksted, they worked on Molslinjen’s M/F Samsø. Better known as the Samsø ferry.
Our COO, Tom Nymand Kristensen, talks about the actual work task on M/F Samsø:
“Here, the task was to replace the packing boxes of the three propellers. Likewise, the task also consisted of cleaning the gear oil coolers. One for each of the thrusters, as well as a minor rebuild of a gear oil system on one of the ferry’s thrusters.”
The service technicians solved the task and everything went according to plan – and M/F Samsø could resume the crossing between Kalundborg and Ballen in mid-February. The Samsø ferry will have more departures in 2022. Therefore, it made sense to have West-Marine look at the tried and tested thrusters before the spring and summer season picks up.
