The Skærbæk Plant

In the past year, over a period of approx. 3 months assisted Babcock & Wilcox Vølund with various tasks at the Skærbæk works, owned by Ørsted.

The tasks were carried out by trained ship fitters from West-Marine A/S. As a ship fitter, you have a very versatile education, an education that enables you to carry out many different types of tasks.

Tasks where the user typically wants to contact the manufacturers of the equipment that is failing and have their fitters come, bringing the necessary spare parts.

Spare parts such as bearings, packing boxes, gaskets, O-rings etc. can often be brought by West-Marine A/S or they can be obtained during project execution.

The jobs at Ørsted – Skærbækværket have been varied:

• Various valves – Purchase of spare parts and renovation.
• Conveyors – Purchase of necessary spare parts, replacement of bearings, replacement of stuffing boxes, replacement of gaskets and O-rings, adjustment of chain chains (redler), this so that the conveyors make an even pull.
• Chip conveyor – Replacement of bearings, stuffing boxes, gaskets, O-rings, then we have adjusted the chain chains in the conveyors so that they make the same pull.
• Tile conveyor – Manufacture and installation of brackets/rails for the top lids so that rainwater can run off.
• Ash conveyors – Ash collection boxes manufactured and installed.
• Reduction gear – Renovation of the reduction gear between valve and engine.
• Disassembly/assembly of gear Cover plates objection in chip silo.
