Vortex Pump – Vertical
A Vortex pump VRX is basically a vertical centrifugal pump with the motor separated from the pump by a long shaft. Why it is often called the vertical shaft pump or the vertical column pump.
Supplied with a vortex impeller, this cantilever pump creates a vacuum so that large solids can pass through without interfering with the pump’s internals.
The pumps are able to handle liquids with solid content, eg fish waste, wastewater, manure and viscous contaminated liquid. These solids can pass through without disturbing the internal parts of the pump.
Vertically submerged Vortex pumps are the ideal solution when you need to pump from a sump, underground well, a reservoir or a tank. The pumps’ ability to handle high temperatures and flammable liquids makes this pump a popular solution when a traditional submersible pump cannot be used.
Specifications
- Flow Rate up to 35 m3H
- Max Head (pressure) up to 16 bar
- Outlet Sizes DN 50-100
- Max Temperature 160 grader C
Versions of the Vertical Shaft Pump
- Vertically submerged
- Horizontal monobloc
- Horizontal Base Plate
The vertical Column pump covers a wide range of flow rates thus being ideal for various applications. Another advantage of the centrifugal vertical column pump is a space-saving construction.
The Vortex pump is distinguished by sending large particles through. Due to the construction, the particles, fish waste etc. similar won’t get in touch with the impellers. Consequently, the pump can if the outlet is 60 mm – send a fish of 60 mm out.
Material
All pumps are available in cast-iron and bronze
Advantages and Functions of the Vertical Column Pump
- Centrifugal immersion vertical column pump
- Oil cooled mechanical seal
- Vortex impeller for the large free passage of solids
- 230v, three phases of 50Hz/60Hz motors available. IP55 as standard
Application
MARINE
Dirty water containing solids, pumping of fish waste
INDUSTRY
Transfer of wastewater with solids, slurry and sludge, emptying of tanks, swamps, wells
Approved Vertical Vortex Pump
The Vortex pump is cast, processed and assembled at Azcue Pumps. Each pump is designed to fit your process, resulting in greater efficiency and lower overall lifetime costs in terms of wear and energy consumption. All pumps are tested individually before leaving the factory.
The Vortex pump is registered a Lloyds and ABS approved.

Service
Like the other pumps in the Azcue program, the vertical Vortex pump benefits from the interchangeable part for reduced on board stockholding. The task of replacing a pump prematurely that just needs maintenance won’t be necessary.
At West-Marine, we have many years of experience in servicing pumps from Azcue Pumps in Spain andguarantee supply of spare parts for many years to come from final production of a model.
