One of our skilled service technicians has been loaned to Siemens Gamesa to assist their permanent staff. He was involved in both service and maintenance of all the tools and materials used in the construction and installation of new wind turbines.
Initially, our service technician was loaned to Siemens Gamesa for three weeks. Afterwards, they requested to lease one of our technicians again for a couple of weeks.
“On this type of leasing assignment, we always rotate our technicians, which allows our employees to build knowledge and experience with the work at Siemens...
Arctic Ocean
Not long ago, our technicians were on board an old acquaintance – Arctic Ocean. Here, they made a series of improvements in the engine room. They cleaned the charge air cool, repaired the cooling water pipes, and replaced the plates in the plate cooler.
“For the last 8 years, I have used West-Marine for repairs and improvements on my ships, Arctic Hunter and Arctic Ocean. I always choose West-Marine because they are extremely professionel in their work, and they always prioritize the customer’s wishes and requirements,” says the owner of Arctic Offshore, Finn Jakobsen.

EUROPACK: Service at a Sublime Level
At West-Marine, we love helping our customers, and we assisted the engineering company Kemp & Lauritzen with a gasket crisis. Shortly after, we received this glowing feedback:
“We found out that our gaskets were made of the wrong material, and it was a Friday afternoon. In a panic, I called Evan G. Nielsen from West-Marine, who quickly got me connected to Keld Moesgaard. Even though it was ‘5 minutes before closing time,’ Keld took on the task. Half an hour after my first panicked call, Keld already had the materials sorted and an extra pair of hands to help him cut the...

Overhaul on ESVAGT Connector
For a couple of years, the ESVAGT Connector had been moored at Grenaa Harbor, but ESVAGT decided to put the ship back into operation. This meant that the ship needed to go into dry dock.
The ship went into dry dock at Esbjerg Shipyard A/S, where several tasks needed to be carried out. The shipyard and ESVAGT chose West-Marine A/S to handle the overhaul of both the bow, stern, and retractable thrusters, all branded Kongsberg, as well as 2 Alpha pitch propellers. Our team of 6 service technicians worked on the overhaul in collaboration with KONGSBERG.
The work was completed on time and to everyone’s...
Urgent Task on Orø Ferry
Back in August, challenges arose with one of the two propeller systems on board the Orø Ferry. This required the ferry to make a trip to Assens Shipyard and undergo emergency docking to resolve the issue.
Our service technicians, Johs Schmidt and Daniel Einarsson, arrived at Assens Shipyard with the necessary spare parts to address the task.
“They quickly identified that a fishing net had become entangled in the propeller, causing the leakage in the propeller’s seal. This resulted in seawater seeping in and mixing with the ferry’s gear oil. It was a critical situation that...
High precision and optimal safety for more than 30-years
CCO at West-Marine A/S, Evan G. Nielsen, is seen here with a PLT line thrower from Restech.

Overhaul on Esvagt Kappa
West-Marine A/S continues the thruster overhaul, and now its time for the overhaul of ESVAGT KAPPA
Our service technicians, led by Alex Fjord Christensen, were called out when a minor leak had occurred in one of the thrusters. As a result, lake water had begun to penetrate.
Subsequently, it was decided that the ship’s three thrusters should be dismantled and taken to West-Marine’s workshop for a total overhaul.
After this, the thrusters had to be mounted again and the whole process as usual subject to the approval of the class company. After a week in the workshop, the three...
On a trip with the Samsø Ferry
At the end of January, a group of our service technicians took a trip to Svendborg shipyard. At Petersen & Sørensen Motorværksted, they worked on Molslinjen’s M/F Samsø. Better known as the Samsø ferry.
Our COO, Tom Nymand Kristensen, talks about the actual work task on M/F Samsø:
“Here, the task was to replace the packing boxes of the three propellers. Likewise, the task also consisted of cleaning the gear oil coolers. One for each of the thrusters, as well as a minor rebuild of a gear oil system on one of the ferry’s thrusters.”
The service technicians solved...
The new ship “Christina”
Our CEO, Carsten Larsen, and CCO, Evan G. Nielsen, were last Friday at the opening at the harbor in Hvide Sande, where Fisherman Torben Johansen held the opening of his new ship “RI 344 Christina”.
We were invited to the festive day at the port, because West-Marine was responsible for delivering both a NorSap chair and Azcue pumps for the new ship, which was built at the Vestværftet in Hvide Sande.
“It was a pleasure to be over for the opening of “Christina”, and a big round of applause must be given to both Torben and Vestværftet for a successful project that...
Overhaul of gear on Wind Innovation
The offshore support vessel Wind Innovation had a trip to Esbjerg Harbor during the summer, where the ship, among other things, had two gears overhauled.
Wind Innovation belongs to the shipping company CBED Holding A/S, which is a subsidiary of Monjasa A/S.
The shipping company wanted two West-Marine A/S service technicians associated with this project, who, under the project management of a Brunvoll A/S technician, would be responsible for a thorough overhaul of both gears.
In detail, the work task consisted of dismantling the gears and subsequently replacing the bearings at West-Marine’s...
Overhaul of Wind Orca
At the end of 2021, West-Marine via Semco Maritime got a large thruster task in their hands. This task was to be carried out for the Danish shipping company Cadeler, which has previously sent the twin ship, Wind Osprey, past the port of Esbjerg, where both Semco Maritime and West-Marine are geographically located.
This time it was about the WTG installation ship Wind Orca.
The task was similar in several respects to the previous work on Wind Osprey, which was past Esbjerg in the early autumn of 2021. However, the scope of the task was slightly increased. In contrast, four Brunvoll thrusters...
